SHOALS MEN'S GARDEN CLUB

The Shoals Men's Garden Club is the only men's garden club in northwest Alabama. We are not affiliated with any national garden club so we are free of the paper work generally associated with such affiliations. We have excellent programs ten months out of the year and take the summer off substituing an old fashioned ice cream social in July and a watermelon festival in August. Each meeting iis preceeded by a business meeting of about 30 - 45 minutes and followed by refreshments. We also meet on the Saturday after our regularly scheduled meeting for breakfast and, a few times a year, work on projects following breakfast.

Spring is highlighted with a field trip (spouses and friends included). We plan and execute projects throughout the Shoals area with the intent of beautifying our area. We are one of three organizations making up the Shoals Beautification Alliance that also includes the Shoals Master Gardeners and the Shoals Chapter of the Alabama Wildflower Society. Through the SBA we take part in joint projects and annual community offerings including plant sales and garden tours.

Our Christmas Banquet is the highlight for our year and our featured speakers are among the elite of gardening. Periodically we make the "Plantsman" award to a deserving member of the Shoals Men's Garden Club. The recipients of this award are Nationally recognized gardening personas who also happen to be (or have been) members of our club. Our dues are very low, our fellowship is great,and we welcome all.
