He descended the stairs slowly. It was dark until he flipped the switch at the head of the long flight of stairs. A lone low wattage lightbulb at the foot of the stairs came on. He continued on down the stairs until he could see the cavernous room whose shadows the pitiful lightbulb did little to dissolve. A musty smell wafted in the air - a smell of ancient manuscripts preserved for the ages in this dark room. There were lines of bookshelves and he saw each held the volumes of history from one year as revealed by the date at the end of the bookshelf. And on each of these were the priceless gems he had come seeking - past issues of the Shoals Men's Garden Club Newsletter, "The Grapevine". He jumped when he heard the detached voice, "Welcome to our archives. Browse about as you please, but please try not to disturb the cobwebs. We're working on getting all our past volumes here where you can see them, but we have a little more (actually, a whole lot more) cleanup to do to put them on the shelves. But feel free to browse, read what you like, and come back as we will be adding more as we go along."
He felt a shiver go down his spine as the detached voice continued, "Since it is rather dark down here, if you don't already have Word, you will need Word Viewer. To download, click free download here so you can better read these old documents without having to worry about their disintegrating when you take them off the shelf."
